Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult
Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process.
Huckleberry was found three years ago by one of our foster volunteers. He was a kitten by himself and his tail was badly mangled. It seemed it had been that way for some time. CCI got him to a vet the very next morning where his tail was amputated. He allowed his foster mom to pet him but was still wary of people. The first day he got to see one of her other kitties, and he seemed relieved to see another one of his kind. He was fearless introducing himself to the other cats and immediately wanted to be friends with all of them. He also decided he liked this one squirrel dog toy the best and would drag it around the house even though it was longer than he was. After much love and care Huckleberry was ready for adoption. He was adopted to a nice lady with several other cats so it seemed like it would be a great fit. However, unfortunately, she developed some medical problems and could no longer keep him and he was returned to us. Huckleberry is independent and shy at first. He's lovey, purrs and likes to be pet on his terms. He likes to roll around and bury his face when being pet. He’ll sit by you on the couch and sleep at your feet. He does not like to be held and should be an only pet. Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable kitties. All of our kitties are fully vetted (age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and they are microchipped.) They live in private foster homes with their foster families. Our adoption fees are $75 - $120. In order to match the best home for our foster kitties, we ask folks to complete our adoption application in advance; simply go towww.candyscats.org/forms. You will need to register on our site, and then fill out an Adoption Application. We'll review your information and get back in touch with you. Cats are not adopted first-come, first-served, but rather the best home for the kitty, but we do give consideration to the folks who take the time to fill out the application in advance. Almost all of our volunteers work during the week; to be able to meet one of our cats by appointment during non-adoption days (Saturday, 11 - 4, Sunday 12 - 4), your application needs to be filled out in advance and approved by our adoption coordinator prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with the cats.
