Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (medium coat) : : Male (not neutered, but will be before adoption) : : Baby
Because of the difficulty getting appointments to get our rescue cats altered in a timely manner, we recently launched our pre-spay/neuter adoption program. The cat you are interested in may be part of this program and will have at least it’s first FVRCP vaccine, a microchip registered to us and will have been treated for internal and external parasites. Please fill out our screening form and after reviewing and confirming your information, our adoption counselor will reach out to you to explain the process.
UPDATE: 3/21/19: Oreo is very shy at first, but he warms up when trust is built up. He is very friendly and gets very excited when there are treats to be offered. He gets very chatty when he sees the treats being offered to his friends. He loves to play with other kitties and will carry a toy in his mouth to bring it to his friends. He loves the cat tree and will hide in the cubby for his afternoon naps! Oreo loves children, cats, and his humans!
UPDATE 3/30/18:
Oreo is a little kitty we brought in a few months ago and today he was diagnosed with something called pectus excavatum. Essentially this is a congenital deformity, which is mild in his case, but explains why he doesn't like to play like other cats, and he sleeps a lot. Radiographs showed his organs are in the right place and he's old enough to have survived the worst age - infancy for a kitty.
According to the vet, he should be fine, just will have shortness of breath. His heart is located properly, organs aren't smooshed, but it's just his sternum feels weird.
Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable kitties. All of our kitties are fully vetted (age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, tested for feline leukemia and feline aids, and they are microchipped.) They live in private foster homes with their foster families. Our adoption fees are $75 - $125. In order to match the best home for our foster kitties, we ask folks to complete our adoption application in advance; simply go to www.candyscats.org/forms. You will need to register on our site, and then fill out an Adoption Application. We'll review your information and get back in touch with you. Cats are not adopted first-come, first-served, but rather the best home for the kitty, but we do give consideration to the folks who take the time to fill out the application in advance. Almost all of our volunteers work during the week; to be able to meet one of our cats by appointment during non-adoption days (Saturday, 11 - 4, Sunday 12 - 4), your application needs to be filled out in advance and approved by our adoption coordinator prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with the cats.
